I'm back

I’ve been living the quiet life for a bit. Eating fruit and veg. Going to bed early. Taking regular exercise. Experiencing fresh air (and not just while waiting for a cab). My liver probably doesn’t know what has happened to it.
But I’m back. Hurrah. Slightly pissed, already. Texting madly to sort out when I’m seeing [...]

Green-fingered man

I’ve had a pretty quiet weekend, spent a lot of time out in the garden tidying it up which has been good. Put a patio down and also started up a vegetable patch, whether ir works or not we’ll soon see but I thought I’d try! Also planting lots of flower seeds so fingers crossed [...]

Rich man, poor man…

There are some girls who I think could fairly be called gold diggers. They’re on sugar daddie.com.  And on the opposite end of the spectrum there are the genuinely altruistic who work in the slums of Kolkata and couldn’t care less about money. Most of us, I think, are somewhere between the two.
While some financial security [...]

Internet Dating - ashamed or proud?

I know several couples who’ve met through internet dating and subsequently got married. One couple are very bashful about how they met. One are very open “I found him on t’internet” and the other says “We met through a friend”. When questioned which friend, she says “Mr Gates”.
Blokes tend to be more embarrassed about it [...]

Quote unquote

Some of the profiles on internet dating are just too funny for words. Obviously I couldn’t post them here - that would be mean - but hopefully these quotes are sufficiently non-identifiable.

Niceness

“OH MU-UM. I can’t go to the party with David”
“Why not? He’s a nice boy”
…lots of eye rolling…
“Nice? Eugh”
I must have had this conversation hundreds of times with my mother during my teenage years (and in my twenties too I shouldn’t wonder). “Nice”, in my book, was about the biggest insult I could think of [...]

Serial dater, 57, finally finds Ms Right

A friend sent me this article from the Telegraph - I was transfixed.
A man who was banned from a dating website following complaints that he “lacked commitment” has finally settled down, he said today.

Clive Worth, 57, claimed to have slept with more than 1,000 women and admitted he was not looking for love [...]

Love and Bravery

My parents do everything they can to make us happy, including helping paint flats, repair cars from a distance (”Dad, what does this noise mean?”) and cook my favourite food. In short I am an adored daughter.
But as well as taking on practical tasks, they take on my worries and pains. They wince every [...]

Meeting Mr Right

At the beginning of this year I asked for various suggestions of how I could go about meeting Mr Right - established methods having not (yet at least) produced him. Amongst the various suggestions came the idea of doing a course of some description, thereby meeting, at the very least, like-minded people.
I decided that cycling [...]

Magazine Dating

A few years ago, before internet dating became as widespread as it is today, a popular women’s magazine published a section of hot men who you could contact via the mag. Sarah gave me a copy for my birthday.
Stunned to realise that I’d met the cover man the previous week in the pub, via a friend, I [...]
