Frolics and Date No 1

Saturday night saw an outdoor party type event. Flash dresses. Lots of Pimms. Fairground. You know the sort of thing. A hilarious evening.
Amongst other things, I chatted the hind legs off several donkeys, pole danced on the horse on the carousel (it seemed like a good idea at the time but rest assured it was [...]

Internet Dating - ashamed or proud?

I know several couples who’ve met through internet dating and subsequently got married. One couple are very bashful about how they met. One are very open “I found him on t’internet” and the other says “We met through a friend”. When questioned which friend, she says “Mr Gates”.
Blokes tend to be more embarrassed about it [...]

Quote unquote

Some of the profiles on internet dating are just too funny for words. Obviously I couldn’t post them here - that would be mean - but hopefully these quotes are sufficiently non-identifiable.
my education: 1st class

Serial dater, 57, finally finds Ms Right

A friend sent me this article from the Telegraph - I was transfixed.
A man who was banned from a dating website following complaints that he “lacked commitment” has finally settled down, he said today.

Clive Worth, 57, claimed to have slept with more than 1,000 women and admitted he was not looking for love [...]

I'm excited

I’ve been emailing a boy. He’s handsome, with gorgeous eyes, and is very very funny. We’ve been bantering back and forwards for about ten days with me snorting with laughter and desperate to email back immediately but somehow restraining myself for at least a decent period of time. Said period of time has become less [...]

And while on the subject of advice

I love this dating advice for men blog. She makes me fall about laughing when pointing out the seemingly-blindingly-obvious. Clearly though can’t be that obvious as men don’t seem to realise.
Moxie writes brutally honest, but great, advice in response to emails people submit.
Niels does date coaching if you’d prefer hands-on workshop-type assistance.
and Roosh advises on [...]

Double Dutch

I’m not entirely sure why this chap decided to write to me in Dutch. I’d have thought the odds of someone understanding it are slim to poor, though I’m guessing it says something along the lines of “I’d like to get to know you better”. Would anyone like to enlighten me?

hoi,
het lijkt me heel leuk [...]

Brummie Date

I went to meet the friendly Brummie this afternoon for coffee, cakes and a potter around the park.
First glance:
Him: Dodgy jacket. Burst capillaries all over his face (too much drink? hereditary?). Broken, wonky, teeth.
Me: Cycling helmet. Cycling clips. Cycling jacket. Though I replaced all the above with normal stuff in about a minute.
Chat:
Him: Very interested. [...]

Wicked stepmother

Five years ago I wouldn’t have gone near a retread* as I felt that them already having broken their vows of “till death do us part” somehow would lessen the seriousness of any new intentions.
Then my sister met a fabulous one and pointed out that “at least you know he’s not afraid of commitment”. [...]

Internet Liars

.!.
His profile said he lived in South London. Fine. He looked normal. He seemed friendly - he emailed me. We emailed back and forth and then finally it transpired that in fact, he doesn’t live in South London, but South Paris. A detail, you might think. But a detail I am fairly certain to notice [...]
